What We Believe:

The Bible

We believe the Bible is totally true and can be totally trusted. This is our standard for faith and practice.

The Creeds

While there are diverse ideas, backgrounds, and cultures within our church, we focus on the basics of the Christian faith to find agreement. Our beliefs can be summed up in the ancient creeds of the church, most clearly the Apostle’s Creed, established early in the 4th century AD. The creeds are not exhaustive, nor are they meant to be; rather they are a summary of the essentials of the Christian faith rooted in Scripture, as they have been passed down faithfully through the generations.

Apostle’s Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
      creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
      He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
      was crucified, died, and was buried;
      he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again.
      He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
      the holy catholic* church,
      the communion of saints,
      the forgiveness of sins,
      the resurrection of the body,
      and the life everlasting. Amen.
