The topic of slaves submitting to their masters doesn’t seem very relevant in America today but maybe it should. We are all under someone else’s authority whether it be a teacher , boss or some other authority figure. So should we respond when they tell us to do something that we don’t think is fair or right?

Easter is one of the two best attended church services. Every year people here the same message and yet many seem unaffected only to return at Christmas or the following Easter. This message is different and will hopefully show that the Easter message of a resurrected Jesus should be part of every Sunday message.

The word ‘love’ is thrown around a lot these days and has come to mean very little. We fall in and out of love with sports teams, music, television shows and people. Those who call themselves Christians get divorced at the same rate as non-Christians and are seldom identified as loving. But aren’t we called to be different and to be distinguished by the love we exhibit toward others? Consider what Peter had to say about loving others.

Do you ever feel like you have an angel on one shoulder whispering in your ear to do or not do something and the devil on the other shoulder telling you to do just the opposite? What does it mean to be Holy because God is Holy? Give a listen and see if we can figure this out together.

Do you ever feel like life seems to be comprised of one type of grief or kind of trial after another. Have you said or heard others say, “If this is what life is all about then what’s the point?” Well, what if suffering could be purposeful instead of pointless? Why not listen and see how God can bring about a greater purpose in your life through the suffering you face.

Do you even skip through the opening greeting of a letter in order to get to the real meat and substance? What if you missed a critical part of the message? As we begin this series on 1 Peter let’s not skip over the greeting and miss part of God’s amazing message.

We live in a world with many religious people but what is true and pure religion in the eyes of God? How does the world around us pollute us so that what was meant to be pure and faultless often times becomes worthless? Perhaps we have been praying wrongly about our involvement in the lives of orphans? Listen and see.

Investing is a part of our lives. We invest in 401k plans, houses and careers yet for most of us those investments haven’t paid off well lately. Maybe this is a good time to reconsider how and where we invest. Perhaps we’ve been more focused on investing in possessions and positions instead of people? Why not reconsider your investment strategy and invest more heavily in people for the sake of eternity?
